Born in June 27, 1944 at Buyukada, Istanbul Mr. Sahin was graduated from Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar- High School Heybeliada / Istanbul in 1962. In 1964 entered the Middle East Technical University and graduated as an Electrical / Electronic Engineer (BSc in EE) in 1969. Joined Turkish Naval Forces as a student in university preparation year and then graduated from the University with his MSc. Degree in EE. By the year of 1972. Afterwards was appointed as Engineer Officer with the rank of Lt.of TUN to the Gölcük Naval Shipyard- Kocaeli.

Within the shipyard, related to his professional carrier performed the managerial titles of handling various factories, shops and group of repair facilities for naval ships’ electrical/ electronic / weapons and fire control systems as a chief engineer. Meantime carried out the works for the establishment, installation and survivability of an internationally recognized Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical Calibration laboratory facilities in all respect to serve for Naval Force Units for Turkey. Attended to Calibration and American Language Foreign Language Courses in Denver- Colorado of the United States. Under the scope of New Ships Construction Projects of Submarines and Frigates he was appointed to the liaison office in Kiel- Germany, as a project officer. He followed the Submarine Fire Control Systems and Under Water SONAR Systems Training Courses in Bremen for the AY-Class Submarines. Has contributed a lot and actually worked personally in the tasks of the realization to have International Quality System Certification (ISO – AQUAP) Documentation for the Shipyard.

He made the foreign office duty as a staff officer between the years of 1987-1990 in Italy at the NATO (NAVSOUTH) Southern Region Allied Chief of Naval Operations Headquarter. After this duty he was appointed to Taşkızak / Hasköy-ISTANBUL Shipyard for the period of five years (1990-1995) as Chief Engineer and Manager for Technical Department. Completion of this duty gave him a second chance to be back to Gölcük- Naval Shipyard as a Senior Chief Officer for the Quality Control Test and Trial Department and on 30th August 1998 he was ready for his retirement with the rank of Senior Officer of TUN.

After retirement the following occupations and positions were sequentially occupied and performed; Research Engineer at Arçelik-Çayırova/ Istanbul; Technical Director-Manager for Sefakoy / Istanbul Radisson SASS Hotel Chain; Technical Manager for Hilton Hotel Konya; Technical Consultant for ENDEM Holding- Gayrettepe / Istanbul ( Worked in Algeria for two years).

Following the year of return from Algeria, he started to work at GASM- SEAFARER Exam Center in TÜDEV – Tuzla / Istanbul as vigilator and part time lecturer for Electricity/ Electronics / Use of Computer training and education classesses. Mean time he managed to achieve the Certificates of GMDSS, Maritime English Instructor and Lecturer for GOC.

Presently works as a project officer at TÜDEV – University of Piri Reis Tuzla in some European Union funded projects of the Lifelong Learning Leonardo Program and continues to serve as a part-time instructor at PUSEM. Mr. SAHİN, married, has two adult daughters and is able to use effectively English, German, Italian languages both in his academic environment and daily life.
